It’s November! It’s NaNoWriMo time! For those of you unfamiliar with the sport of writing a 50K novel in 30 days (in spite of a major holiday), please go check out their website at http://www.nanowrimo.org/. The folks that sponsor the writing fest do some really awesome things. I love participating, and so far I’ve been able to finish the goal every year. This will be my fourth year, and I’m excited! The years I’ve previously participated have given me the bulk of material for a novel I am still editing, and this year I’m starting something entirely new.
Well… new in the sense that I’m actually turning thoughts and ideas, as well as bits and pieces I’ve previously written, into an actual book. Hopefully, an entire series. Kai, a character I created for roleplaying, is finally getting his moment in the spotlight. My crazy and wonderful writing partner, Kristie, is writing in tandem with me, focusing on a character that plays a key role in Kai’s life. It’s great fun plotting and planning and creating with her; she has a fantastic imagination, and is such a great source of support and encouragement.
Did I mention that I’m excited about this project? It’s true!
I’ll try to keep you all updated with my progress at least once a week. Is anyone else out there NaNo-ing? Anyone thought about it, and not started yet? (Do it! Do it! Do it!)
Happy writing!
I am so *there* with you, which of course you know. I could not have a better mumble-nine birthday gift than getting to write even a little part of Kai's story with you. I love Kai! And you too!
I agree, I am utterly mad and definitely full of wonder at having an awesome writing partner like you.
Now, to butcher TV's Adam West's most famousest of lines: To WriMo, Robin!
Good luck with NaNo! I'm using it to finish two novellas. It's definitely exciting! =D
